Ariel Gail

Professor Gail S. Goodman has been a distinguished professor of psychology since 1993 and Director of the Center for Public Policy Research, University of California Davis. She is widely credited with starting the modern science-based study of children's memories of eyewitnesses and children's victim witnesses within court contexts. Professor Goodman is a prolific author, has won many prizes and grants. She has provided advice on policy and research for numerous government agencies and departments across the world. She has been a consultant with the Special Assault Forensic Evaluation Center which was previously known as known as the Multidisciplinary Interview Center of Sacramento County Child Protective Services. She has memberships with numerous professional organizations, like the Association for Psychological Science and American Psychological Association. She is a founding member of the American Professional Society for the Abuse of Children, the Psychonomics Society Society for Research into Child Development and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. She has served as the president of three divisions (Division Society for Policy and Child Development and Practice Division, American Psychology-Law Society, and Division Developmental Psychology) and one Section (Child Maltreatment) of the American Psychological Association.
